History

Northeastern Music Programs provides turnkey instrumental and classroom music education programs to Catholic and parochial, private, and charter schools grades K-8. The Northeastern advantage offers these schools the ability to provide students high-quality music education without the high start-up costs and overhead of music teaching staff.

Founded in 1983 by Dr. Randy Navarre, Northeastern Music Programs originally started by providing band programs to two schools in the Philadelphia region. Northeastern Music Programs quickly developed partnerships with many local private schools and within 3 years was providing quality band programs to 20 schools in the region. The first Northeastern music teacher was hired in 1985.

Originally, Northeastern Music Programs only provided band programs to member schools. It quickly became evident that there was a need and interest in other programmatic offerings. Northeastern Music Programs soon expanded its scope and now offers a full slate of music instruction that includes band, strings, and general music programs to hundreds of schools in 4 different states and throughout the Greater Philadelphia Region.

In 2007, Northeastern Music Programs began a partnership with Menchey Music Service, a long-tie school music dealer, to provide instrument rentals for students in our member schools. Upon Dr. Navarre’s retirement in 2017, Menchey Music Service acquired Northeastern Music Programs and continues to provide and maintain the same quality service that has always been the hallmark of Northeastern Music Programs.
